Steps
What each step does
These are the steps a workflow can run. Each step acts on a record or a list of records, and some change what the steps after them act on. In the steps editor, a step's help explains it too, with what it acts on in your workflow (see Help and context).
Creating records
- Create Object: Creates a new record, optionally with starting values, and makes the steps after it act on the new record.
- Create Related Object: Creates a record linked to this one through a relationship, like an activity for a contact.
- Duplicate: Copies a record into a new one, optionally changing fields on the copy, and makes the steps after it act on the copy.
Changing records
- Set Field: Changes fields on a record: set to a value, copied from a related record, or asked for when the workflow is clicked.
- Save: Saves a record's unsaved changes, like the fields Set Field changed.
- Start Editing: Switches a record to edit mode, so its fields can be changed in place.
- Discard Changes: Throws away a record's unsaved changes and stops editing. In a modal, it closes the modal.
- Delete: Deletes a record.
Showing things
- Open Modal: Shows a record in a modal, using one of your layouts, and continues once it's saved.
- Close Modal: Closes the modal the workflow is in.
- Show Notice: Shows a short message at the bottom of the page, which can include field values and how a loop went.
- Confirm: Asks before continuing. Cancelling stops the steps and undoes the ones before it.
- Go to Page: Goes to a record's page, another layout, or a URL.
- Send Webhook: Sends a record, or a list's query, to one of your team's webhooks.
Choosing what steps act on
- Switch Context: Makes the steps after it act on another record: the workflow's, one an earlier step acted on, or the nearest one of a type.
Loops
- For Each Object: Runs the steps after it, up to End For Each, for each record in a list: the ones shown, selected, or every match.
- For Each Related Object: Runs the steps after it, up to End For Each, for each of a record's related records, like a project's open tasks.
- For Each File: Asks for files, or takes files dropped on the workflow, and runs the steps after it for each one.
- End For Each: Ends a loop. The steps after it run once, with what the loop started with.
Stopping
- Only Continue If: Stops the workflow unless records match filters, keeping what the steps before it did.
