Duplicate

Duplicate copies the record's saved values into a new record. The steps after it act on the copy, like opening it in a modal or going to its page.

Settings

• Change on the Copy: fields the copy is created with instead of the original's, like a new name, a start date of today, or the project a copied task belongs to. Each can be set, copied, or asked for. See Setting fields.

How it works

• It copies saved values, not unsaved changes.
• Fields the server fills in, like autogenerated numbers and when the record was created, get their own values on the copy.
• Fields under Change on the Copy are set as the copy is created, so the copy never has the original's values for them.
• Inside For Each Related Object, it copies each related record, like each open task.
• If a later step is cancelled, the copy is deleted again, unless it was changed since.

Example

The Continue workflow in Close a project and continue its open tasks duplicates the project, asking for the new name and due date and setting the start date to today. Then, for each open task, it duplicates the task with its Project set to the new project.
